Director Biography – Hao-Jan Chang

Hao-Jan is an expert in underwater cinematography, drone works, and creative storytelling. “By the Sea” is his latest documentary series of 8 episodes.

The documentary-style kids’ short “WAWAWA: Cheng Pao’s Farm” He filmed wow the “Best Documentary Short” at the 2023 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival.

Film Director‘s Statement about the Film

“By the Sea” is a documentary-style children’s program that focuses on the interaction between children and the sea. This filming project observes and accompanies children in their daily lives with curiosity and observation. Rather than providing specific guidance, the project allows children to freely develop their childlike spirituality in the sea. This could be fearlessness or growing stronger with each setback, or even disagreements and stubborn tears. However, these are all moments refined and selected by childhood and become transparent and sparkling crystals when the seawater dries up. “By the Sea” is dedicated to every child who has a piece of the ocean in their heart.
