Director Biography – Piotr Chmielewski
Piotr Chmielwski is an stop-motion animation autodidact who dedicated his knowledge and skills to raise social issues with visual materials. He does campaign animations for various non-governmental organizations and he makes his first steps as an art house film director. Animation called “Crab” is his debut and hopefully first part of film series that will show important historical events from animal perspective.
Film Director‘s Statement about the Film
This film was made with a hope to stimulate empathy in the audience by showing them a story that everybody knows but from a completely different perspective. The idea for this movie is part of a series of short films that will show important events in human history seen from the perspective of animals.
Animals are our silent companions; they have witnessed the greatest achievements and most horrible failures of humankind. They live their lives parallel to ours – they are our food, our tools or, in the best case, we just don’t notice them. Usually our victory means death for them, but there are moments where the situation changes…
