Film Director’s Statement about the Film
“How did you lose your childhood innocence?” was one of the thoughts that came into our minds while brainstorming. I’ve always wanted to create a film about the upbringing I had. The film was inspired by my childhood experiences about learning the idea of money and its value. Growing up in the province, I was never able to properly understand the concept of money as a child since my parents constantly reasoned that I was too young to understand what was happening around me. But being surrounded by people who frequently discuss their financial struggles has made me aware of our family’s financial situation. We all had different childhood experiences, and one of the film’s goals is to show how important communication and honesty are between a parent and child. Dahon is also about childhood innocence, intending to make the audience reminisce about their childhood as it is worth remembering before we were opened up to the world’s struggle.
